REVIEW- ANTECHINUS – NEW MUSIC

“For the people,By the people,In the people” is the debut EP from Gold Coast punk rockers Antechinus.
It was released earlier this month and on Saturday night they took to the stage in Annerley at The Back Room. The guys have an incredible stage presence whilst delivering their own intense brand of hard hitting punk rock, there was definitely a very powerful energy coming off the stage during their set.
Antechinus formed in 2015 and have been playing shows all over the gold coast whilst building a reputation as a band you can rely on to deliver the goods.
The band consists of:
Leon Rossi on guitar
Brad Fleming on bass
James Scown on vocals
And Shaun Radford on drums
The first track off the EP is “Unpaid hours” and it without a doubt sets the standard pretty damn high for what’s to follow. It has these little stop and starty bits in it which really get your attention and create an atmosphere that’s free to interpret in whatever way you like. What follows are four energetically powerful tracks that don’t let up and easily hold there own against each other.
The third track “Kick Down The Doors” was a real stand out one for me.
Mainly because I haven’t been able to get it out of my head since Saturday night,
Why so serious!
Why so serious!!
If you’re not looking into the depths of your wallet calculating whether or not you are capable of purchasing your very own copy of their EP after hearing this track, then there must be something wrong with you.
Maybe you like jazz? I can’t say for sure. All I can say is that “For the people,By the people,In the people” is available now and is definitely worth checking out. Their next show is on the 7th of January at the Crowbar in Brisbane, So if you can, you need to get along and see for yourself what I’m on about.
